Bluesky mention by @AsakuraTom1: @_MetaMage_ So DnT still suck ass in the end ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ Please answer the question based on MTG tournament data. The full thread JSON is available but omitted here.

DnT (Death and Taxes) is played in multiple formats. Let me search across the most common homes for it: Legacy and Modern.

Death & Taxes showed up in Legacy. Let me get its archetype overview and trends now.

Here's the data-backed rundown on Legacy Death & Taxes for @AsakuraTom1:

It's complicated. Over the last two months, D&T is actually the second most-played archetype in Legacy at 6.85% meta presence, trailing only Dimir Tempo. The 60-day winrate sits at 51.79%, which is basically right at parity โ€” not dominant, but not embarrassing either.

The trend data tells a more painful story though. D&T had a legitimate hot streak in early-to-mid August, posting 61% winrates in back-to-back weeks. Then it fell off a cliff: 41.7% the week of Aug 17, 38.1% Aug 24, and 37.5% Aug 31. It has partially stabilized since (48.9% the week of Sept 7), but the most recent data point is an ugly 0% across 4 matches. Small sample caveat applies there, but the downward trend in the second half of the window is real. The deck is still showing up, but it is clearly struggling against the current meta.

So: not dead, still popular, but yeah โ€” the results have been rough lately. Your pain is valid.
