I need to gather the current meta data to identify the top 12 archetypes, then find rogue decks performing well against them. Let me start by pulling the meta report and format context.
The top 12 is clear. The context is Modern. Now I need to identify rogue archetypes (low presence, outside top 12) and check their winrates against the top 12. Let me first get the full list of archetypes in the DB to find rogue ones, then pull their matchup winrates against the top 12.
Good data. Now let me drill into the top rogue candidates (Omnath Ritual, Grixis Frog, Blue Belcher, Yawgmoth) and get their matchup winrates against the top 12 archetypes simultaneously.
The match-level join isn't returning data — the issue is likely the matches table join direction. Let me inspect the matches table structure and check pair_id logic, then try a corrected query using pair_id to link both entries.
The tool appends its own LIMIT — I must not include one in the SQL. Let me fix and re-query.
Good — the result field uses "WIN"/"LOSS" not "W"/"L". Now let me re-run the matchup query with the correct result values and proper join logic.
Excellent data. Now let me compute a composite "average winrate vs top 12" per rogue deck, and grab sources.
Here's the full picture, @Lalolmo:
The Modern top 12 over the past 30 days is Broodscale (11.5%), Prowess (10.9%), Goryo Reanimator (8.4%), Esper Blink (6.9%), Affinity (5.7%), Tron (4.5%), Devoted Combo (4.3%), Boros Energy (3.7%), Fight Rigging Eldrazi (3.5%), Dimir Frog (3.2%), Ruby Storm (3.1%), and Boros Ponza (2.9%). Here are the best performing rogue decks (all under ~2% meta share) against that field:
Grixis Frog is the clear standout at 55.6% combined winrate across all 12 matchups. It crushes Devoted Combo (88.9%), Ruby Storm (75%), Broodscale (68.4%), Tron and Boros Ponza (both 66.7%), and holds positive records against Goryo, Boros Energy, Affinity, and Fight Rigging. Its weak spots are Prowess (37.5%) and Esper Blink (22.2%), so it isn't a clean meta-buster but is the most broadly positive rogue option.
Omnath Ritual follows at 54.0% overall. It is exceptional against Dimir Frog (100%) and Fight Rigging (100%), and posts strong numbers against Broodscale (73.3%), Goryo (72.2%), and Esper Blink (71.4%) — three of the most played decks. It struggles badly against Tron (28.6%), Devoted Combo (25%), Boros Energy and Boros Ponza (both 33.3%). Yawgmoth rounds out the top three at 53.5%, with a dominant 90.9% win rate against Boros Energy and 77.8% against Fight Rigging Eldrazi. It loses ground against Affinity (35.7%), Esper Blink (41.2%), and Prowess (44.8%). Blue Belcher and Aggro Eldrazi sit just under 50% vs the top 12 and are not recommended as true meta-predator choices.
If you're looking for the single best-positioned rogue pick, Grixis Frog has the most balanced spread across all 12 matchups, while Yawgmoth and Omnath Ritual offer spikier profiles that reward knowing the local meta composition.
